New tunnel project planned for Hamburg, Germany

A new road tunnel project is planned for the northern German city of Hamburg. The 1.5km tunnel will form the third stage of the A26 Autobahn project and will connect with the A1 route. Construction is expected to cost around €200 million but work on the new tunnel will not commence until 2023.

The 57km bypass project includes building two overpasses and seven interchanges. Construction of this new bypass will join the M4 Don highway with the Yeyskoye Highway and the Krasnodar-Temryuk-Bely route. The project is costing US$430.6 million and forms part of a wider plan to improve connectivity around the Black Sea.
