New tunnel link in Serbia’s capital Belgrade

Works on Serbia’s Strazevica tunnel is due for completion in May 2012. The tunnel forms part of the Belgrade ringroad. Serbia’s Government is also planning to finish the construction of a total of 200km of the Corridor 10 motorway, following the completion of the Strazevica-Bubanj and Batajnica-Dobanovci sections. Work on the remaining 130km will commence soon. Meanwhile work on the Ljig-Preljina section of Corridor 11 is now underway.

    Serbia’s Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has approved a merger between the public-owned roads companies Putevi Srbije (Roads of Serbia) and Koridori Srbije (Corridors of Serbia).     Serbia is in talks with China for construction of the Preljina - Boljare section of the pan-European Corridor XI. The section will connect Corridor XI to Corridor X. Corridor XI will run from the Montenegrin port of Bar to Belgrade and on to Bucharest, Romania. Corridor X links Salzburg, Austria, with the Greek Aegean port of Thessaloniki port, via Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia and Macedonia. This includes the construction of a motorway bypass of Belgrade.
