New road links for Mozambique

Two new roads are now being built in Mozambique by Portuguese firm Mota Engil Engenharia. The total package is worth some US$148 million (€116 million). These two roads are the latest in a series of contracts Mota Engil Engenharia has won in Mozambique during 2010. The company is already carrying out some €165 million of work on road, bridge and other infrastructure projects.

    In Brazil the firm EcoRodovias has won the tender process for the Rio-Niteroi bridge contract. The Brazilian road management firm was awarded the tender for the Rio-Niteroi contract, with its proposed low charge for each user of the bridge. The company will take over management of the route from May 2015, for a period of 30 years.     Work is about to get underway on the Maputo-Catembe bridge and the nearby Bela Vista-Boane and Catembe-Ponta do Ouro roads in Maputo province, Mozambique.
