New Polish expressway project planned

Work is commencing on the S3 expressway project in Poland. Costing €355 million, the expressway will connect Bolko with Kamienna Gora Polnoc. A consrtium headed by Porr will handle the work, which is due for completion in the second half of 2023. The project will be complex as it will included two building tunnels as well as 12 bridges and flyovers.

    Tunnels are being proposed to improve traffic flow between The Hague and Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The Dutch civil engineering consultancy Royal HaskoningHDV has carried out a study into traffic flows between the two cities. According to the study, traffic flow will improve if tunnels are built at Wassenaar where the N44 road becomes the A44 highway. The study predicts and increase in traffic volumes to 57,000 vehicles/day by 2030.

    Funding for the final 8km section of a highway project in the US state of Oklahoma has yet to be finalised. Around US$135 million has been secured but a further $165 million will have to be secured by the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority for this section of the route. The Gilcrease Expressway will be tolled and the rates are now being set, with higher charges for commercial vehicles. The project will be complex due to the uneven terrain and tricky geology.     Huge numbers of construction machines as well as plant and equipment are working overtime, backed by mammoth manpower, to meet the targeted completion deadline of March 2018 for India’s Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE). The 135km arterial route is being built with six lanes and surrounds India’s National Capital, Delhi, its National Capital Region (NCR) and the industrially developed North Indian states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
