New Moscow’s massive motorway building and road maintenance programme

A huge programme of works is planned for New Moscow. This is aimed at adding extra capacity. The plan calls for the building or reconstruction of over 120km of roads within the next four years. About 600km of roads will be built in the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky (New Moscow) administrative districts by 2035. A huge programme of works is planned for New Moscow. This is aimed at adding extra capacity. The plan calls for the building or reconstruction of over 120km of roads within the next four years. About 600km of roads will be built in the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky (New Moscow) administrative districts by 2035. Most of the new roads will be built with four lanes, allowing two in either direction. The Central Ring Road is a priority project. A road between the Kommunarka village and the Yuzhnoe Butovo district will be renovated in summer 2015. Construction of 7.5km of approach roads to six settlements of the Troitsky administrative district will also begin in 2015. Design work is underway. Some US$14.5 billion will be invested in construction of road-transport infrastructure in new Moscow territories by 2035.

Meanwhile plans are in hand in Moscow to rebuild the Schelkovskoe Highway. The work should be complete by the end of 2015. The right side of the new two-level overpass is already complete, while the second half is under construction. The road surface has been 40% replaced. The highway will be expanded to three-four lanes in each direction. Some 10km of service roads, road exists, and bus bays are also being constructed.
