New highway announced in Bolivia

Bolivia’s highway expansion programme continues with plans unveiled for a new project worth some US$400 million. The highway will be located in the vicinity of Cochabamba. Discussions over financing the project have been carried out with the Latin American Development Bank (CAF). A timeline for the project has not so far been announced however. The route of the highway has also to be announced.

    Bolivia's state-owned road operator Administradora Boliviana de Carreteras (ABC) has an ambitious road building programme. This will see the construction of a further 3,172km of roads, of which almost 1,000km will be completed in 2015. This development could follow discussions between Bolivia's vice-president Alvaro Garcia Linera and Chinese funding bodies being held during his trip to China.
