Superior Construction will build the fifth and final section of Florida’s Wekiva Parkway Project in the US. The US$38.65 million contract was awarded by the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX). Superior’s section of the project will be from Kelly Park Road and Country Road 436/Mount Plymouth Road. This work will commence in early August 2016 and should be completed by January 2018.

The Wekiva Parkway is being planned jointly between CFX, the 2697 Florida Department of Transportation and Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise. The five CFX Wekiva Parkway sections, located in Orange County and a small portion in Lake County, total 16km and more than $270 million in construction costs.

CFX plans to open its first Wekiva Parkway section, from SR 429 at US 441 to the Kelly Park Road interchange, in spring 2017. All of CFX’s Wekiva Parkway sections are scheduled to be open to traffic in January 2018.

The Wekiva Parkway will complete the beltway around northwest Central Florida and reduce traffic congestion on US 441, SR 46 and other area roads. The 40km parkway will feature all electronic tolling, allowing motorists to pay their tolls at highway speeds, without having to slow down or stop. Drivers will be able to pay their tolls using E-PASS or via the CFX Pay by Plate programme.
