New expressway for the Philippines under construction

A new expressway link in the Philippines is now under construction. The US$241.6 million South Luzon Tollway (SLTC) project will feature six separate sections. Work is due for completion in 18 months. The new route will cut journey times on the route between Santo Thomas and Barangay Mayao from three hours at present to just 45 minutes.

The is handling the tendering process. Manila North Tollways Corp (MNTC) has offered close to US$401 million for the project but the Philippines Government is keen to open up the tender to other companies. MNTC is the toll road division of Metro Pacific Investments and currently operated the NLEx route.

  • Work to commence on new Philippines expressway

    Work is due to commence in 2017 on the new Cavite-Laguna Expressway in the Philippines. This 47km route will run along the coast to the south of capital Manila, with its north eastern end lying close to the city’s international airport. The route connects Cavitex in Cavite's Kawit with the SLEx-Mamplasan Interchange in Laguna's Biñan. The project will improve connections to the airport as well as from Manila to the southern end of Luzon.
