Two important bridge projects are underway in South America at present, one in Brazil and the other in Ecuador. In Brazil a new bridge will span the Araguaia River. The project is costing nearly US$29 million, with the work being handled jointly by Spanish contractor Comsa and local firms Loctec and Enescil.

Meanwhile in Ecuador, construction work on the new bridge connecting Guayaquil with Daule is close to completion. Costing $60 million, the bridge should be ready for traffic in October 2020. The bridge measures 540m and its construction has been paid for jointly by the local authorities in Guayaquil and Daule.
