Work is now going ahead for the construction of the new Yanji Yangtze River Bridge link in China’s Hubei Province. This new suspension bridge will feature a novel double deck design and provide the second link between Ezhou City and Huanggang City.

This will be China’s second longest suspension bridge when complete, featuring a main span of some 1.65km. The project is being carried out by two Chinese contractors, Second Harbor Engineering Company and China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group.

The work is costing US$1.83 billion, with the upper deck carrying six lanes and featuring a design speed of up to 100km/h, while the lower deck has four lanes and a design speed of up to 80km/h.
