New Australia route in Victoria

Work is set to commence on a new bypass in Australia’s Victoria State in 2019, with the work planned for completion in 2022. The new Mordialloc Bypass will run from the existing Dingley Bypass to the Mornington Peninsula Freeway. The project is expected to cost US$226.3 million (A$300 million).

The Australian Government will provide 80% of the funding required, with the remaining 20% being provide by Queensland State’s budget. Construction of the 1.3km undersea tunnel project in Ha Long city is now subject to a feasibility study. Construction is expected to commence in 2019.

  • Melbourne mega highway project proposed

    Plans are being developed in Australia for a major highway connection in Melbourne. Some US$7.45 billion (A$10 billion) is being planned by the Victoria State Government to fund the construction, with this being delivered through state rather than federal sources. However a final decision will not be made on the project until 2018, after the next local elections. If the project does get the final go ahead it will connect the Metropolitan Ring Road and the Eastern Freeway.

    A Salini Impregilo consortium has been shortlisted to design and build the Rozelle Interchange and Iron Cove Link as part of Sydney’s WestConnex project. WestConnex, the biggest road development in Australia, is likely to cost around US$12.6 billion. At an estimated value of about $2.65 billion, the Rozelle Interchange and Iron Cove Link was commissioned by the New South Wales state government. It will include an underground motorway interchange to City West Link and underground bypass of Victoria Roa
