Myanmar bridge on track

Work is said to be progressing on track in Myanmar (Burma) on the Ayeyawady Bridge (Pakokku) project.

Work is said to be progressing on track in Myanmar (Burma) on the Ayeyawady Bridge (Pakokku) project. Some 79% of the work has now been completed. When the structure is ready for use it will be the country's biggest bridge. The bridge will feature two lanes of vehicle traffic and will also have a rail connection. The main structure of the bridge will be 3.5km long.

    Bidding is commencing for a major new highway bridge project in Dubai. The Al Ittihad bridge project is for a 2.7km link, spanning the Dubai Creek.     Parsons is heading the project to build the I-40 White River Bridge and approaches in the US state of Arkansas. The contract is to build a 1.92km bridge for the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department and Parsons is leading the joint venture that also includes CJ Mahan construction.     A successful explosive demolition project for an old bridge has been carried out in the US state of Missouri. The Fairfax Bridge was constructed in 1935 and was no longer able to meet current transportation needs. Some 760m long the bridge was carrying around 6,000 vehicles/day. Another bridge was also opened nearby, the Platte Purchase Bridge, in 1957 to help the original structure carry the necessary traffic volumes. Removing the old structure of the Fairfax Bridge as well as the Platte Purchase Bridge and replacing them with a new bridge is costing around US$79 million.
