One of Morocco’s most dangerous roads could get tunnels in a bid to improve its safety. A feasibility study on the potential installation of tunnels on the RN9 mountain-passing route will begin in December 2014.
The Canadian province of British Columbia has given environmental approval for a 10-lane US$2.8 billion bridge to replace the ageing George Massey Tunnel near Vancouver.
However, approval for the 3km cable stay bridge over the Fraser River comes with 33 conditions, according to Canadian media.
Construction of the toll bridge will also mean replacing the interchanges of Westminster Highway, Steveston Highway and Highway 17A.
A feasibility study is underway for the highway project to connect Colombia’s capital Bogota with the country’s second city, Medellin. The 427km route will be of major benefit to the country by cutting journey times between the two cities to around five hours.
