One of Morocco’s most dangerous roads could get tunnels in a bid to improve its safety. A feasibility study on the potential installation of tunnels on the RN9 mountain-passing route will begin in December 2014.
Morocco’s Transport and Infrastructure Ministry has plans in hand to expand the country’s road network in a bid to boost the economy. Safety improvements will also ensure that the road network is safer, with Morocco instituting new road safety policies. Two new road tunnels have been proposed by the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) that would pass through the Nark Kerb Mountain. The work is expected to cost in the region of US$208 million. The new links have been suggested by EXAT as a means to improve communications between Kathu-Patong beaches in Patong Muang in Phuket.
