Morocco’s key highway extension

In Morocco a key highway extension project is now moving forward. Moroccan road authority Autoroutes du Maroc (ADM) says that work to extend the Casablanca-Berrechid highway will commence in the first half of 2016. The US$62.32 million project will focus on a 21km section of the highway. The Casablanca-Berrechid highway will be the first segment of the Casablanca-Agadir highway, a route carrying some 40,000 vehicles/day at present.

In Morocco a key highway extension project is now moving forward. Moroccan road authority Autoroutes du Maroc (ADM) says that work to extend the Casablanca-Berrechid highway will commence in the first half of 2016.     Morocco’s road development programme is continuing with the announcement of plans for new motorway projects and upgrades. The country’s motorway company, ADM, will spend US$366.8 million on building a new motorway link from Berrechid to Tit Mellil and also to add lanes to the Casablanca to Berrechid connection. The latter will help reduce congestion at peak periods and improve journey times for users. New automated tolling systems are also being introduced on the country’s motorway network.

    Morocco is working on a new highway development programme. This calls for the building of 1,384km of highway routes, in addition to the existing road links. In all the work is expected to cost in excess of US$7.9 billion. The work includes building 10 key stretches of highway. Some of the key routes to be upgraded will be: Beni Mellal and Marrakech; Tangier and Tetouan; Rabat to Casablanca and Berrechid; Berrechid and El Jadida; Fez to Tangier.
