Mexico road project, construction resumed

Construction work has restarted for Mexico’s Oaxaca-Ventanilla-Huatulco road project. The project has been delayed for around 10 years and is expected to cost around US$189 million to carry out. The new highway will connect Oaxaca with Ventanilla and Huatulco.

The order has been for 21,500m3 of roller compacted concrete (RCC) to pave all of the roads for the new terminal of ALA Transportes, a division of Grupo Transportes de Monterrey (GTM) - the largest trucking company in Mexico. The trucking firm needed a tough and durable concrete grade to be able to cope with the loads exerted by the movements of around 400 heavily laden trailers/day at the facility.

    Construction delays are holding up the opening of a new bypass in northern Germany that will connect the towns of Löhne and Bad Oeynhausen. Construction work on the link commenced in 2008 and has so far cost some €170 million. In all the project is expected to cost €208 million to complete.
