Malaysia planning huge sea tunnel project

The Malaysian authorities have now awarded the contract to build the huge Penang-Butterworth tunnel project. The new link will cost in the region of US$1.92 billion to construct and the work includes building three bypass connections as well as the undersea tunnel. The Malaysian authorities have now awarded the contract to build the huge Penang-Butterworth tunnel project. The new link will cost in the region of US$1.92 billion to construct and the work includes building three bypass connections as well as the undersea tunnel. The project also includes a 4.2km link from Gurney Drive to Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu and a 4.6km road connecting Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu to Bandar Baru Air Itam.

    Plans are underway for the Warsaw Ring Road project in Poland. Italian contractor Astaldi made the lowest offer for the project at €289.95 million. The work calls for a 4.6km section of the route to be constructed, including what will be Poland’s longest road tunnel once complete. There have been 10 bidders for the tender, being handled by the Polish road authority GDDKiA. Other bidders included the Porr Polska consortium and a construction consortium comprising contractors Budimex and Strabag.
