Malaysia actions Pan Borneo highway projects

Malaysia is pushing ahead with a series of construction projects that will form sections of the Pan Borneo Highway in Sarawak. Work will go ahead on eight sections of this important route and this will form phase one of the project, with the cost anticipated as some US$3.05 billion. RSSMalaysia is pushing ahead with a series of construction projects that will form sections of the Pan Borneo Highway in Sarawak. Work will go ahead on eight sections of this important route and this will form phase one of the project, with the cost anticipated as some US$3.05 billion. The eight packages consist of the 95km stretch from Sematan to Sungai Moyan Bridge, an 89km stretch connecting Pantu Interchange with Batang Skrang and the 80km section from Sungai Tangap Interchange to the Pujut Link Road. They also include the 77km Bakun Interchange to Sungai Tangap section, the 68km section from Batang Skrang to Sungai Awik Bridge, the 65km section from Sungai Arip Bridge to Bintulu Interchange, the 64km Sungai Kua Bridge to Sungai Arip Bridge stretch and the 64km Sungai Awik Bridge to Bintangor Interchange section. A further three stretches of the Sarawak route have yet to be allotted and will have an estimated total cost of $976 million. In all the Sarawak portion of the project will cost $4.026 billion and will measure 1,089km long, with its completion expected in 2021.
