Major upgrade for important Queensland interchange

Parsons Brinckerhoff and Seymour Whyte are working on a joint venture partnership contract for the Smith Street Motorway and Olsen Avenue Interchange upgrade in Queensland. 2693 Parsons Brinckerhoff and 7601 Seymour Whyte are working on a joint venture partnership contract for the Smith Street Motorway and Olsen Avenue Interchange upgrade in Queensland. The design and construct contract relates to the upgrade of the critical link between the new Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct and the Pacific Motorway. The project is worth in excess of US$44 million (A$50 million) and was awarded by the 7029 Department of Transport and Main Roads.  Smith Street Motorway links the Pacific Motorway (M1) and the new Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct in Parkwood, and is also a major connection between the M1 and the Gold Coast’s main tourism districts. The Department of Transport and Main Roads has worked closely with the Department of Infrastructure and Planning, Queensland Health, Gold Coast City Council and Griffith University to ensure the roads’ network supports the new Gold Coast University Hospital, the planned expansion of the Griffith University campus and the first stage of the Gold Coast Rapid Transit project.
