Major Malaysian bridge project planned

Malaysia’s Federal Government and Sarawak State Government have agreed to construct a bridge in Sri Aman. The new bridge will span the Sungai Batang Lupar waterway in Sri Aman. Malaysia’s Federal Government and Sarawak State Government have agreed to construct a bridge in Sri Aman. The new bridge will span the Sungai Batang Lupar waterway in Sri Aman. The work will be managed and funded on a 50-50 basis by Malaysia’s Federal Government and the Sarawak State Government. In addition, construction work on the Pan-Borneo Highway is now underway. This major project is expected to cost around US$3.95 billion and will improve transport between Malaysia and its neighbours, helping boost economic development in this region. In all the highway runs for over 1,000km between Lawas and Lundu.

    The first stages of the construction work for the expressway connecting the Jelapang with Batu Kawan in Malaysia are now underway. The 116km Jelapang-Selama-Batu Kawan Expressway (Jelas) is expected to take 36 months to be built and the project is worth some US$1.12 billion.     Malaysia’s West Coast Expressway company has reported that it will inject nearly US$425 million into its West Coast Expressway project. Total cost of the West Coast Expressway, which will stretch 233km between Banting in Selangor state and Taiping in Perak state on the Malaysian peninsula, is expected to be around $1.56 billion.
