Major revisions have been made for a key Brazilian bridge project. The bridge connecting Santos with Guarauja will now feature increased spacings between the supports. This redesign will allow an improved passage for shipping.

The distance between the central support pillars for the structure will be 750m-apart, instead of the 400m originally planned. This is a key amendment given the importance of the port area nearby.

The bridge is now expected to cost close to US$725 million to build however, instead of the $557.6 million originally expected. The construction phase should take three years.
