This 21km section of the new Suncoast Parkway 2 will run to the north of Tampa, along Florida’s western coast. The route is intended to be a major transport corridor for the state and will feature four lanes. Called SR 589, the tolled route will run from South of SR 700 (US 98) to SR 44 in Hernando and Citrus Counties. Lane Construction is building the second of two sections of the Suncoast Parkway 2, with the firm’s work due to commence in early 2018 and expected to require around 48 months to complete.

Lane Construction is the US subsidiary of Salini Impregilo and its work on the Florida highway project involves building 15 bridges. The work also includes milling and resurfacing, base work, drainage improvements and kerb and gutter construction. Finally Lane will install traffic signals, lighting and signing, as well as new safety guardrail, retaining walls, pedestrian walkways and a multi-use trail. Once the Suncoast Parkway 2 is opent to traffic, drivers can expect shorter commuting times while the new route will also improve sustainability by contributing to the reduction of emissions on the existing network between Citrus County and the Tampa Bay Region.
