Key Turkish bridge tender open

The tender process for Turkey's third Bosporus Bridge project is now open.

The tender process for Turkey's third Bosporus Bridge project is now open. The bridge is planned to be constructed under a build-operate-transfer deal with tendering being finalised on 23rd March 2011. The bridge will carry a highway as well as rail connections and is seen as a priority project by the Turkish Government. The third Bosporus Bridge will cost US$6 billion to build according to estimates and is due for completion in five years. The project will connect Garipce near Istanbul with Poyrazkoy in Asia.

    Turkey has awarded the much-delayed tenders for the motorway connector roads to Istanbul’s Third Bosphorus Bridge.

    The 90km motorway section between Kinali and Odayeri was awarded to the Kolin-Kalyon joint-venture with completion in seven years and nine months, according to Turkish media reports. The 170km section between Kurtkoy and Akyazi was awarded to Limak-Cengiz joint-venture which will finish the work in six years and nine months.

    The tender process for the road connections to the third bridge over the Bosporus in Turkey has been delayed once more. This is the third time the tender for the connecting roads for Istanbul's third bridge over the Bosporus has been postponed.     Work is progressing well in Turkey on the country’s landmark new bridge over the Bosporus. This will be Istanbul's third bridge, with the opening now planned for the 29th October 2015.
