Key contractors win Russian highway rebuild

In Russia the construction firms Hanty-Mansiyskdorstroy and Volgomost are working on contracts to rebuild the important M5 highway. This route lies motorway in the Republic of Bashkortostan (Volga) and is managed by Samara-Ufa-Chelyabinsk.     Contractor China Railway Group (CREC) will carry out a major highway project in the Chinese province of Shaanxi. The project is for a 119km stretch of highway worth some US$1.96 billion in all. The project is being handled under the PPP model and will include the 39 month construction phase as well as the 30 year contract for operation.     Work now looks ready to move ahead for an elevated highway project in Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo. Funding has been secured in the shape of a loan worth US$300 million from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to help carry out the work.
