Indonesia’s new planned toll road

Plans are being drawn up in Indonesia for development work to the Route 1 road link connecting Demak to Tuban and Gresik on the island of Java. The road tolling company Waskita Toll Road is working on the plans for the 236km route and will carry out a pre-feasibility study. The project is likely to be handled in partnership between Waskita Toll Road and Jasa Marga.

    Building work for the toll road connecting Cileunyi with Sumedang and Dawuan in Indonesia will now be complete ahead of schedule. The route will open to traffic in 2020, instead of 2021 as originally planned. The work is being carried out in six separate sections. The contractor Citra Karya Jabar Tol is currently building sections 4, 5 and 6, having completed section 3, with the work costing close to US$555 million. The project will be receiving loans from China amounting to $300 million. Construction is expected to start by end of 2013.
