Indonesia’s new planned toll road

Plans are being drawn up in Indonesia for development work to the Route 1 road link connecting Demak to Tuban and Gresik on the island of Java. The road tolling company Waskita Toll Road is working on the plans for the 236km route and will carry out a pre-feasibility study. The project is likely to be handled in partnership between Waskita Toll Road and Jasa Marga.

    Financing is being sought in Indonesia for a series of major infrastructure projects. In all the work is expected to require US$9.59 billion and is for six highway projects, with one in Kalimantan and five in Java. The project in Kalimantan is for the Bontang-Samarinda Highway. In Java the highway projects are for links from Cileunyi-Tasikmalaya-Cilacap stretching 183km, Bawen-Yogyakarta, Kamal-Balaraja-Teluknaga stretching 48.3km, Semanan-Balaraja stretching 31.7km and Semarang-Demak.

    The authorities in Indonesia are planning six toll road projects to link with capital Jakarta.     Indonesia is going ahead with three toll road concessions in West Java, according to the head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency, Herry Trisaputra Zuna. The three toll roads - Cileunyi-Banjar; Ciranjang-Padalarang; and Sukabumi-Ciranjang - will need total investment of up US$1.54 billion, he said.
