Indonesia toll road projects face construction delays

The collapse of an elevated toll road section in Indonesia has triggered delays to ongoing projects for new links. A stretch of the Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu (Becakayu) toll road section in East Jakarta collapsed. As a result, work on a series of elevated highway projects has been halted. The projects are the Cimanggis-Cibitung toll road, Ciawi-Sukabumi toll road, Cibitung-Cilincing toll road, Jakarta toll road, Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung toll road, Krian-Legundi-Bunder-Manyar toll road, Pasuruan-Probo

The collapse of an elevated toll road section in Indonesia has triggered delays to ongoing projects for new links. A stretch of the Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu (Becakayu) toll road section in East Jakarta collapsed. As a result, work on a series of elevated highway projects has been halted.


The projects are the Cimanggis-Cibitung toll road, Ciawi-Sukabumi toll road, Cibitung-Cilincing toll road, Jakarta toll road, Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung toll road, Krian-Legundi-Bunder-Manyar toll road, Pasuruan-Probolinggo toll road, Serpong-Cinere toll road, Surakarta-Ngawi toll road and Terbangi Besar-Kayu Agung-Pematang Panggang toll road.

In addition new safety measures are being implemented for the Becakayu toll road, Depok-Antasar project and the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road.

Meanwhile funding from China is being sought for a new bridge to connect Batam and Bintan in Riau islands. Building the 7km-long bridge is expected to cost US$190.5 million.

    A loan facility has been secured which will help provide the necessary funding for a project planned by Waskita Toll Road in Indonesia. The loan is worth US$151.1 million and is being provided by a number of finance agencies. The bodies providing the financing package are Sarana Multi Infrastrukture and Bank Syariah Mandiri.
