Construction work is now well underway on the new expressway link connecting India’s capital, Delhi, with the important commercial centre, Mumbai. Work is being carried out on 18 of the 51 stretches into which the 1,320km expressway has been divided. India’s Ministry of Road Transport & Highways expects the project to be complete within three years. Building the new expressway is expected to half the journey time of 24 hours required to drive the route at present.
