Indian highway projects moving forward

Major highway projects are seeing progress in India. The US$1.52 billion Zojila Pass tunnel project is being planned in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The project has been awarded to local road development firm IRB Infrastructure Developers (IRB). The 14.08km tunnel is expected to take seven years to complete. The concession for the project is for 22 years. As part of the deal, IRB will oversee the construction of 10.8km of approach roads on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri Road in Jammu and Kashmir.

Major highway projects are seeing progress in India. The US$1.52 billion Zojila Pass tunnel project is being planned in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The concession for the project is for 22 years. As part of the deal, IRB will oversee the construction of 10.8km of approach roads on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri Road in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile India’s Ministry of Environment and Forests has approved land reclamation works for the construction of a 33.2km coastal road in the city of Mumbai. The $1.81 billion project is being planned by the Maharashtra state government. The route will connect Kandivali and Nariman Point and the coastal road will be the first of its kind in India as the government did not previously allow land reclamation for road construction projects.
