Indian highway deals awarded

Two important highway projects have been awarded in Rajasthan State.

Work on two important road projects in India’s Rajasthan State will commence in due course. The projects were awarded by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to local contractor HG Infra Engineering (HGIEL). In total, the two projects are worth US$284 million.

Both projects are for sections of the NH-148N route, which will connect India’s capital, Delhi, with Vadodora in Gujarat State. One of the projects is for a 33km section between Baonli and Jhalai, which is worth $122 million and is expected to take two years to complete. The other project is worth $162 million and is for a 45.6km stretch of the NH-148N route running from Mui, with the construction work also expected to take two years to carry out.

The two sections of highway will be constructed with four lanes in either direction. The contracts will be carried out under the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) format.

  • Road project for India’s Bihar State

    A new road upgrade project in India's Bihar State is now moving ahead, forming part of the country’s highway expansion programme. The US$138.4 million contract will see the NH 82 link running from Gaya to Biharsharif being widened to four lanes. Funding is being provided by the Japanese Cooperation Agency (JICA). The contract for the project will be handled by local company Gaytri Projects. The deal was awarded to the contractor by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Bihar State Road Development

    Mott MacDonald has been appointed design consultant for the proposed Raipur-Bilaspur national highway 200 in India. Part of the National Highways Development Programme Phase IV established by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the new road will connect Raipur in Chhatttisgarh to Chandikohole in Orissa, passing through areas including Bilaspur, Raigarh and Jarsuguda.
