The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) awarded a contract to Adani Enterprises (AEL) to build three sections of the Ganga Expressway. The package of works is worth US$1.98 billion and AEL will construct 464km of the route between Budaun and Prayagraj. The work will be handled under a design, bid, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) model.
Meanwhile, UPEIDA has awarded IRB Infrastructure Developers (IRB) a deal that will see the firm building a 130km stretch of the route, forming Group I of the Ganga Expressway. The work will also be handled under the DBFOT model. The $883.4 million deal will connect Meerut with Badaun.
When complete, this will be the longest expressway in India to have been constructed under the DBFOT model.
