India road project tenders open for bids

The tender process will remain open for nine major highway projects in India until the 9th January 2018. These are all for national highway projects, with the work being managed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The roads will measure a total of 700km and will be constructed in Andra Pradesh State and Gujarat State. These new tolled highways will be constructed and operated under the build-operate-transfer system.

The same firm will also build a 29km stretch of NH 45A between Viluppuram and Puducherry. The financing agreement has been made by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), acting through the country’s Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. This substantial budget comes in spite of fewer projects being awarded as well as less financing having been secured during 2016. In the April to October 2016 the NHAI awarded contracts for 2,330km of highways.

    Major road widening projects for Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand have been awarded by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Local construction company PNC Infratech will widen key routes in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. One of the projects will be to widen a 102km stretch of the Nagina-Kashipur section of NH-74 00 to four lanes. The contract is worth some US$174.2 million.

    Tenders for two expressway projects in Thailand will open by mid-2018. The projects are worth around US$1.5 billion in all. The tender process is being handled by the Expressway Authority of Thailand (Exat). Construction of one of the expressways should commence by late 2018 and the route would then be open to traffic by the end of 2021, if all goes to plan. The 10.5km expressway will connect the N2 Nawamin Road with the Kasetsart intersection and will be tolled, with a project traffic volume of 80,000
