India highway contract awarded

A new highway contract will be carried out in India by Welspun Sattanathapuram Nagapattinam Road (WSNRPL). The firm is a subsidiary of Welspun Enterprises and will work on the US$271 million project to upgrade the route connecting Sattanathapuram with Nagapattinam.

A new highway contract will be carried out in India by Welspun Sattanathapuram Nagapattinam Road (WSNRPL). The firm is a subsidiary of Welspun Enterprises and will work on the US$271 million project to upgrade the route connecting Sattanathapuram with Nagapattinam. The NH-45A route will be widened so that it has two lanes in either direction, with the work due for completion in two years time. The deal was awarded by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

The project is for the construction of the new National Highway 52 and will be carried out by IJM Corp (IJM). The stretch will connect Solapur in Karnataka State with Bijapur in Maharashtra State. The work involves widening and improving the existing two lane route so that it will have two lanes in either direction.
