A consortium is to handle a major highway contract in Hungary. The €246 million project will provide an important link for the M6 highway, connecting to the border with Croatia.

Construction of this 20 km long highway section includes building 16 bridges and is expected to take three years to complete. The S-D 2020 M6 consortium comprises STRABAG and Duna Aszfalt Zrt. The work will be carried out in Hungary between Bóly and Ivándárda on the Croatian border.

The work will improve transport between Hungary and Croatia, reducing journey times for drivers using the route.

The project will also see the construction of three junctions, a service area as well as a road maintenance facility with office buildings, weighbridge and filling station.

The road link forms part of Pan-European transport corridor Vc. It provides a road connection to the Adriatic Sea from Budapest via Osijek and Sarajevo to the Croatian port city of Ploče. STRABAG has already completed work on a section of the M6 between Szekszárd and Bóly and of the M60 between Bóly and Pécs.
