Germany’s Schleswig-Holstein province starts €2.1bn 328 road renovation

The German province of Schleswig-Holstein has started the full €2.1 billion renovation of the 328 provincial road. Schleswig-Holstein has a special funding pot worth €38.5 billion which will be used for renovating the roads for which the province is financially responsible. The money will be spent between now and 2017.

    Financing has been found to fund road construction work in Germany. In all some €2.1 billion has been sourced by the German Government to help pay for 24 road upgrade and construction projects in the country. Of this funding stream some €314 million is being utilised by the southern German state of Bavaria. The road authorities in Bavaria plan to use the financial resources to pay for upgrades to two stretches of Autobahn and five sections of Bundestrasse.

    German engine manufacturing giant Deutz saw the worth of its new orders fall 16.4% in 2012 to €1.237.1 billion, compared to 2011 new orders worth €1.479.3 billion. The Cologne-based firm sold almost 179,000 engines in 2012 - 22.5% fewer than in the previous year. The Deutz Group's revenue decreased by 15.5% to €1.291.9 billion in 2012.
