Germany’s Schleswig-Holstein province starts €2.1bn 328 road renovation

The German province of Schleswig-Holstein has started the full €2.1 billion renovation of the 328 provincial road. Schleswig-Holstein has a special funding pot worth €38.5 billion which will be used for renovating the roads for which the province is financially responsible. The money will be spent between now and 2017.

    The 19th Annual Local Authority Road Maintenance (ALARM) Survey published today reports that the estimated cost to get England and Wales’ local road network back into reasonable condition has increased to €14.47 billion (£12 billion) from €12.06 billion (£10.5 billion) in 2013.     Plans are now well in hand in China's Hebei and Zhejiang Provinces to build new highway connections and boost transport infrastructure. In Hebei Province a total of 12 highway projects worth an impressive US$9.66 billion will commence in 2011. These new highways will add a total of 852km to the network of the province.
