Germany’s Schleswig-Holstein province starts €2.1bn 328 road renovation

The German province of Schleswig-Holstein has started the full €2.1 billion renovation of the 328 provincial road. Schleswig-Holstein has a special funding pot worth €38.5 billion which will be used for renovating the roads for which the province is financially responsible. The money will be spent between now and 2017.

    Regional roads in Russia look set for a revamp during 2015. Some US$6.64 billion will be spent on Russia’s regional roads, according to the Rador association. This compares against the $5.8 billion spent on repairs and revamping of Russia’s regional roads in 2014.     Austrian state-owned motorway operator Asfinag says it will invest US$ 1.28 billion (€960mn) in motorways and highways in 2013. This includes $466.65 million for maintenance. The rest is for new roads and extensions of existing ones. A total of $9.19 billion will be spent between now and 2018. The company said that its debts will rise from $15.73 billion to $15.99 billion. One focus will be on improving the safety of tunnels.     US-based contractor Flatiron has won a US$157 million design and build contract for an interchange in the Canadian city of Winnipeg, in the province of Manitoba.
