Germany’s A281 extension to include another Weser River tunnel

Work has started on a 5km extension, including a 1.1kkm tunnel under the Weser River, to Germany’s A281 motorway. The project around the northwestern city of Bremen will connect the A281 with the A27 by 2024 and cost around €345 million. Bremen will contribute €1 million.

Work has started on a 5km extension, including a 1.1kkm tunnel under the Weser River, to Germany’s A281 motorway.

The project around the northwestern city of Bremen will connect the A281 with the A27 by 2024 and cost around €345 million. Bremen will contribute €1 million.

The first part of the A281 was opened in 1995 and eases traffic congestion heading to Bremen Airport Hans Koschnick.

The existing Weser Tunnel runs from the villages of Rodenkirchen and Dedesdorf, offering a connection between the cities of Nordenham and Bremerhaven. It was opened in 2004 and provides access to the A 27 motorway and the B 212.

    The widened and upgraded A27/A1 highway stretches in the Netherlands have been officially opened to traffic. The upgraded highways connect Utrecht North and the Eemnes Junction, as well as the A1 highway between the Eemnes Junction and the Bunschoten-Spakenburg connection. The project was delivered two months ahead of schedule.
