The construction of a fifth Lao-Thai bridge crossing Mekong River is among proposals by the Borikhamxay Public Works and Transport Department in central Laos to improve development of the province.

The province has also started to restore and upgrade roads in its urban area to handle heavy traffic and large trucks, and this is likely to be completed in the next few months.

Meanwhile, Borikhamxay has proposed the construction of a new ring road approximately 7km away from the provincial capital, which will link up with Road 13. The new road will be located at Pakxan district's Thong village and will be used by heavy vehicles.

The development plans are expected to run for five years.
