Ferrovial consortium secure US$344.39mn Oman motorway construction deal

The Government of Oman has awarded the Ferrovial-Federici Stirling Batco consortium a US$344.39 million (OMR 132.6 million) contract to construct a 41km section of Oman’s Batinah Expressway. According to an Oman national newspaper the package, the fifth of six construction packages associated with the project includes three major bridge works taking the expressway across large wadis. The bridges will contain as many as 20 spans - each with a length of up to 40m.

The Government of Oman has awarded the 2717 Ferrovial-Federici Stirling Batco consortium a US$344.39 million (OMR 132.6 million) contract to construct a 41km section of Oman’s Batinah Expressway.

According to an Oman national newspaper the package, the fifth of six construction packages associated with the project includes three major bridge works taking the expressway across large wadis. The bridges will contain as many as 20 spans - each with a length of up to 40m.

Seen as vital for developing the region's economic potential, the265km-long Batinah Expressway is expected to reduce the travel time between Muscat and UAE border by at least an hour.

The expressway is an extension of the 53km-long Muscat Expressway (which was built by the Muscat Municipality).
