€652 million of Romanian highway deals are being awarded.

Contracts are being awarded for a stretch of Romania’s A8 Union Highway. The stretch between Targu Mures and Miercurea Nirajului has been split into six separate sections.

Financing for the work is being supplied by the Romanian National Road Research and Development Fund (PNRR). The A8 stretches from Targu Mures to Miercurea Nirajului and from Leghin to Targu Neamt are worth €495.2 million. Turkish contractor Nurol Insaat VE Ticaret is handling work on part of the A8 project. The Leghin to Targu Neamt section will be built by the Association SA&PE Construct- Spedition UMB SRL – Tehnostrade.

Construction of the stretch from Targu Neamt to Ungheni will be delayed due issues with the study, which has been rejected by CNAIR.

Meanwhile, the €157 million contract for the Chiribis - Biharia stretch of the Transylvania Highway will be carried out by PRECON TRANSILVANIA - CITADINA 98. The contract covers design, which is expected to take six months, and construction, which is expected to take 18 months. The 28.5km highway section will feature seven bridges and 11 overpasses.
