The roads connecting capital Tallinn with Narva, Tartu and Pärnu will all be upgraded and widened, featuring two lanes in either direction. The E20 route from Tallinn to Narva is important to Estonia economically as the latter lies close to the border with neighbouring Russia. The E263 road from Tallinn to Tartu is an important north-south road that also connects with the E67 route crossing the borders with Russia and Latvia to the south. Meanwhile Pärnu is on Estonia’s coast and upgrading the road connection with Tallinn will help the country’s tourist trade.
