Plans have been announced for the third phase of Egypt’s road expansion programme. The second phase of the road expansion programme is now being completed. The country recently rebuilt the highway connecting capital Cairo with Alexandria, its major port on the Mediterranean in a bid to cut congestion and crashes. Further large infrastructure projects are underway such as the new road tunnel providing a new link to Ismailia and that runs under the Suez Canal, which is itself being widened.
