Ecuador roadworks to be funded by US$367mn Chinese loan

The Ministry of Transport and Public Works in Ecuador (MTOP) has announced that a Chinese loan of US$367 million will fund the restoration of the Catamayo-Gonzanama-Sozoranga-Macara and Celica-Cruzpamba-Y del Muerto roads.
A loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) will fund work on a highway project in Nicaragua’s capital Managua. The US$136 million financing package was secured by the Nicaraguan Government. This will be used to improve and widen the Pista Juan Pablo II highway, boosting capacity and reducing congestion at peak periods, as well as improving safety for drivers.
