Ecuador roadworks to be funded by US$367mn Chinese loan
The Ministry of Transport and Public Works in Ecuador (MTOP) has announced that a Chinese loan of US$367 million will fund the restoration of the Catamayo-Gonzanama-Sozoranga-Macara and Celica-Cruzpamba-Y del Muerto roads.

The Ministry of Transport and Public Works in Ecuador (MTOP) has announced that a Chinese loan of US$367 million will fund the restoration of the Catamayo-Gonzanama-Sozoranga-Macara and Celica-Cruzpamba-Y del Muerto roads.
The Chinese Exim Bank is providing much of the funding for two highway projects in Macedonia. The construction work will be carried out by a Chinese contractor, which has signed a deal with the Macedonian Government. The Chinese Sinohydro Corporation will build two stretches of highway linking Kicevo-Ohrid and Miladinovci-Stip. These will measure 56.7km and 53km long, respectively. Some 90% of the construction costs will come from the Macedonian Government, with this €580 million being provided by the loan
Ecuador is working on plans for the new South Crossing Bridge (SCB) spanning the Guayas River, to improve transport connections for the port of Guayaquil. The plans call for the SCB to be constructed in three sections, with the project expected to cost US$1.04 billion. The schedule calls for the link to be completed in 2022, with work starting in the third quarter of 2018. The project is being handled under 40-year concession deal that encompasses the bridge and highway links.
A loan from the Export-Import Bank of China (Exim Bank of China) will help pay for the rebuilding of an important road section in Nigeria. Approval for the funding package was given by Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council, headed by the country’s president, Muhammadu Buhari. The funding will go towards phase II of the works to rebuild the road connecting capital Abuja with the city of Makurdi. The work will rebuild the A234 highway from Abuja to Akwanga, as well as the A3 highway running from Akwanga to Maku
A series of major road projects are now being planned in Tanzania, with funding sources for much of the work having been identified and secured. The largest of these is being delivered with a World Bank loan worth US$425 million, which will help pay for transport improvements in Tanzania’s capital, Dar es Salaam.
