Ecuador roadworks to be funded by US$367mn Chinese loan

The Ministry of Transport and Public Works in Ecuador (MTOP) has announced that a Chinese loan of US$367 million will fund the restoration of the Catamayo-Gonzanama-Sozoranga-Macara and Celica-Cruzpamba-Y del Muerto roads.
Upgrade work for Paraguay’s Route 2 is being planned. This will improve transport for the country’s capital Asunción. The road runs eastwards from the city to connect with Route 7, which connects with the Brazilian border and also lies close to the border of Argentina’s north eastern tip. Chile's Public Works minister Laurence Golborne has announced plans to invest US$500million to improve roads in the eastern part of the capital Santiago.
