Ecuador roadworks to be funded by US$367mn Chinese loan
The Ministry of Transport and Public Works in Ecuador (MTOP) has announced that a Chinese loan of US$367 million will fund the restoration of the Catamayo-Gonzanama-Sozoranga-Macara and Celica-Cruzpamba-Y del Muerto roads.

The Ministry of Transport and Public Works in Ecuador (MTOP) has announced that a Chinese loan of US$367 million will fund the restoration of the Catamayo-Gonzanama-Sozoranga-Macara and Celica-Cruzpamba-Y del Muerto roads.
China's Ministry for Transport reveals that it beat its target for upgrading rural roads during 2009. Some 381,000km of rural roads were improved, beating the target of 300,000km by a considerable margin.
The authorities in Indonesia plan to invest heavily in infrastructure in 2010 and 2011, with road transport regarded as a high priority. The Directorate General of Highway Construction at the Public Work Ministry has set a budget of US$1.86 billion budget for 2010. According to the Public Work Ministry, 1% of the total budget for 2010 will be used to develop around 536km of roads while 11.5% of the budget will be spent on preservation of 4,400km roads
In Macedonia a new 50km section of highway will be constructed, with €574 million of financing coming from China's Export-Import Bank. The Exim Bank credit line to Macedonia will be used to build a the highway connecting Skopje and Stip. The new route will also link Stip with pan-European transport corridor 10. The loan will carry an interest rate of 2% and will have a 20 year term with a five year grace period.
