Ecuador roadworks to be funded by US$367mn Chinese loan
The Ministry of Transport and Public Works in Ecuador (MTOP) has announced that a Chinese loan of US$367 million will fund the restoration of the Catamayo-Gonzanama-Sozoranga-Macara and Celica-Cruzpamba-Y del Muerto roads.

The Ministry of Transport and Public Works in Ecuador (MTOP) has announced that a Chinese loan of US$367 million will fund the restoration of the Catamayo-Gonzanama-Sozoranga-Macara and Celica-Cruzpamba-Y del Muerto roads.
Key highway projects are being planned in Vietnam. The Ninh Binh-Thanh Hoa expressway will run 127km and is expected to cost US$1.6 billion to construct. The Nghi Son-Bai Vot expressway will cost $1 billion to build and Vietnam's Ministry of Transport (MoT) hopes to source a loan from the World Bank for this project. The Chinese government is upgrading Nepal's capital Kathmandu ring road to eight lanes and the work is due for completion in the next three years. A time extension has been offered to the consortium that will build Paraguay’s Ruta 2 and Ruta 7 highway projects. This extended period has been authorised by Paraguay’s Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC). The tender process is opening shortly for a major road widening project in Ecuador. The contract is thought to be worth in the region of US$1 billion. The work will involve widening the E-25 route to four lanes along a 170km stretch. Also include will be the construction of six access roads, five bridges and 36 crossings for pedestrians. Also known as the Santo Domingo-Quevedo-Babahoyo-Jujan road, the project will be carried out as public-private partnership (PPP).
