Ecuador roadworks to be funded by US$367mn Chinese loan

The Ministry of Transport and Public Works in Ecuador (MTOP) has announced that a Chinese loan of US$367 million will fund the restoration of the Catamayo-Gonzanama-Sozoranga-Macara and Celica-Cruzpamba-Y del Muerto roads.
Arpad Ersek, Slovakia's Minister of Transport, said another two tenders for construction of two R2 expressway stretches will be called by the end of 2018.
They will include the stretch Roznava-Jablonov nad Turnou with the Soroska tunnel and the Kosice, Saca-Kosicke Olsany. In both cases financing has been secured.

In Argentina a new loan facility for road projects is now being provided by the Banco de Inversion y Comercio Exterior (BICE). The loan facility will be worth US$100 million and will be offered for projects being handled under the PPP model and with distances of 2,500km or more. This is expected to speed up plans for various PPP projects, with some $6 billion for road concessions planned for the next four years. A number other funding sources are being developed but are yet to be finalised.
Nicaragua has boosted it budget by $84 million for 2016 in an effort to stimulate the construction sector, local media report.
Public resources will reach around US$600 million and will be aimed to fund infrastructure work such as the Rio Blanco Mulukuku road and the Naciones Unidas-Bluefields road.
The Ministry of Transport will receive $200 million of the budget of which $46 million will be earmarked for the road maintenance fund – Fomav – concerning nearly 2,600kmn or roads.
