Ecuador roadworks to be funded by US$367mn Chinese loan
The Ministry of Transport and Public Works in Ecuador (MTOP) has announced that a Chinese loan of US$367 million will fund the restoration of the Catamayo-Gonzanama-Sozoranga-Macara and Celica-Cruzpamba-Y del Muerto roads.

The Ministry of Transport and Public Works in Ecuador (MTOP) has announced that a Chinese loan of US$367 million will fund the restoration of the Catamayo-Gonzanama-Sozoranga-Macara and Celica-Cruzpamba-Y del Muerto roads.
The funding for a stretch of Sri Lanka’s Central Expressway project now looks to have been secured. A loan of nearly US$904 million from Japan’s Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) will provide the necessary finance package for the project. The route of the Central Expressway runs from Colombo to Dambulla, having originally been called the Northern Expressway Project. In Ethiopia plans are in hand for a series of major road projects. The Ethiopian Government has set out a programme of road building contracts to expand the country’s transportation network. The Addis Ababa City Roads Authority (AACRA) intends to build 600km of roads in the 2014/2015 fiscal year. This will extend Ethiopia’s road network from 4,671-5,275km. Construction of the Kinmen Bridge in Taiwan has now been resumed, with work having restarted on the project in late 2016.
